A building fob works but your suite key does not

Identify whether an access problem belongs to the building's electronic entry system or the suite's physical hardware before arranging service.

A working building fob confirms access through that particular entrance. It does not confirm that your suite key, cylinder or latch is working. Treat the building entrance and the suite door as separate systems when requesting help.

Identify the failed function

Does the suite key enter but refuse to turn, turn without releasing the door, or work only when the door is pushed? Tell the service provider which symptom occurs. Stop if the key meets resistance; repeated force can change the problem you need assessed.

Check that you are using the intended key without comparing or sharing detailed key-cut photographs publicly. If an authorized working spare exists, mention its behaviour. A second key that also fails does not prove the cylinder alone is faulty.

Contact the right responsible person

For a rented or strata unit, confirm who manages suite hardware and what authorization is needed. Building management may handle the fob while a different person approves work at the unit. Keep that distinction in the booking request.

A useful assessment considers the key, cylinder and door assembly. Explain whether you are locked out or can enter another authorized way, and clarify the visit and verification process before dispatch.

Review residential locksmith services and contact 247 Locksmith Vancouver with the exact suite-door symptom. Avoid requesting a fob replacement when the common entrance already works normally.
